Comes: A Green Haired Girl

It's been too long. I have been in a slump recently, so I decided to devote today to drawing. Here's what I got.

It was a little intimidating a couple times. I stuck with it when I would usually give up though, and I am really happy with how it came out.

Thanks for checking in,
-Ryan

Comes: Wedding Signs

These are a few signs I was asked to make for my good friend’s wedding.
When I had finished this one I hadn't noticed that I put a 14 instead of a 15 for the date. luckilly a little sandpaper helped me fix that.
I spent a lot of time on this cupcake sign. I had a hard time sketching out a unique simple design. As soon as I saw this one though I knew it was the right one.
I am most happy that with the fact that these two parking signs came out so similar, and I free handed both of them. They're also really simple because I wasn't sure if they would need arrows added or not.
I had a lot of fun making these signs, and the wedding was great!

Comes: Band Sketches

I went to a house show this night of July 7th. Three bands played, and I sketched and painted some pictures of them. I had never seen any of the bands before, so I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that I liked them all. The main act was Garage Voice, and they were really great. anyways, here're the pictures.

Thanks for checking in.

Comes: Adding to the Collection

Well, this post has come very late, but better to finish it late than not at all, yeah? Anyways this is the journal entry for way back on March 6th. On that day I received in the mail copies of Wreck it Ralph, Cars, and Frankenweenie. It seemed fitting to me to draw a picture of welcoming these characters into my Disney Collection. The other characters on the right are by no means all the other Disney movies I own, I just felt they represented the large library of characters, and they're some of my favorites too.
A part of the reason I took so long to finish this piece was that I was intimidated to color in the characters properly, then I fell off my bike and scabbed up my hands, and then ended up in the Hospital for a possible heart attack. Now all that is behind me, and I finally finished this picture more than a month later. Thanks for checking in, Sorry it took so long for this new post.

Comes: Rainy Day?

Today the weather was really overcast and I thought it looked like it might rain, so I drove my car to work today. But it did not rain today. However I did check the forecast and it predicts rain for the next three days, So I guess no more biking for the rest of the week. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Moving Stuff

Ah Monday, back to work and this day was a particularly good day for me. I got to do some physical work; putting boxes of parts away, and moving heavy pallets around with the pallet jack. One in particular was so heavy, and the floor just slippery enough, that I couldn't get the pallet to move without a coworkers help. I slept good that night. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Laundry Day

Well, as previously stated, I didn't get much done this weekend, but I did at least get my laundry done. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Creature Comforts

This weekend I suffered some real first world problems. I had a lot to do, but instant gratification won out a little too much as I kept telling myself I could get to my chores after one more game or episode. Before I knew it the weekend was over, and I had done nothing. Well here's hoping next weekend I is more productive. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Munchkin

Wow, Two months down and on to the third. This Friday my roommate Micah bought a card game called Munchkin so we played a coupe rounds. After the first two games we figured out all the rules so the third game went really smoothly. I also won that third game. What can I say, I'm a good Munchkin. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Pub Sketching

My brother performed at the SLO Down Pub in Arroyo Grande again this last Thursday. I was able to sketch for most the night this time. And my brother played really good. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Late Night

I got backed up again with my daily drawings, so I stayed up late last Wednesday to catch up. I did, but then got behind again. It's a sick cycle that I hope to break soon. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Cooking and Cleaning

Well it's that time of week again, I cooked for the household today! I made tacos this time. I used to buy taco seasoning packets for the meat, but recently have started to season the meat from scratch. I seem to have it down pretty well now which I am pretty happy about seeing as how it was my third or fourth time doing that. I also cleaned the dishes afterward. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Biking Alone

I have been riding my bike during my lunch break with a couple friends from work for the last month or so, but today everyone else was busy, or didn't have a bike to ride. So I went out on my own. I was a little more worried because one biker is harder to see than 3, but I was cautious and got my ride in. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Cooking Aaron

Well, It was my roommate Aaron's turn to cook dinner for the household this Sunday. But, if I understood him correctly, he has never cooked a meal before; so you can guess that Micah and I were there to "help" in any way we could. Truthfully we believed that he could do it, but we stayed downstairs in case he had any questions. He decided to cook a meal his cousin used to cook, linguica in garlic sauce over linguini. And it turned out just fine. Way to go Aaron! And as always, Thanks for checking in!

Comes: New Game

My roommate Micah had to drive his car to see if he had in fact fixed the problem with it, so we went to the local Games Stop and I bought myself a new game. I have wanted to play Kid Icarus Uprising since it came out, but was waiting on it because I had other games needing to be beat. I still haven't played it, but I will soon. I am really happy with how the game cover came out in this picture. I didn't expect to make it look that good. anyway, Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Resting

After that long week of fun and Family at Disneyland, I was tuckered out. So as soon as I got home I took a little nap till about dinner time. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Cars!

And now the second day of our Vacation. We went to California Adventure and headed straight to Cars Land to ride Radiator Springs Racer. I have been to the park multiple times since Cars land opened, but never went on any Cars rides because I didn't know they had a single rider line, and didn't want to take up a car by myself. Anyways, it was an great ride; we all loved it. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Disneyland!

We are here at Disneyland! Last year around this time we were on a trip similar to this one to Disneyland for my little sister's adoption and now we're back this year for my Dad's Birthday, and my niece's first time to Disneyland. My older sister Alicia brought a little Figure of Pleakley from Lilo and Stich to take pictures of him around the park. My little sister had just reached 40 in. which meant that she could go on most of the rides in the park, and her two new favorite rides were Splash and Space Mountains. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Drawing on the Go

Well, I got home from work tonight and packed for a family vacation to Disneyland! after packing I waited around for my sister to get off school so we could drive down together. She was kind enough to drive as I had some stuff to work on, such as yesterdays entry to my Visual Journal, and my next comic. It was difficult to drive in the car, but I got some stuff done. Tomorrow Disneyland! Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Saghetti Night

My roommates ad I have decided that we will start to take nights to cook meals for all of us to partake and I got the first night of cooking. I decided to make spaghetti because it is easy, and I can make a lot of it. While I was cooking Micah was downstairs too and we were discussing comics for Shoeshine Comics, My new website. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: All Day Drawing

Today I sat myself down and strapped in for a full day of drawing and posting. I worked on catching up with my journal entries, and did a few other chores around the house. Mostly this though. Thanks for checking in, and thanks for sticking with me while I have been delayed and a little lazy this past week. I started with a lot of steam that quickly dissipated as the week went on. Due to chores, and laziness, and disappointment in some of the projects I was working on. But I have persevered and am looking ahead to better days. Thanks again!

Comes: New Salon

I went out shopping for a few things this weekend and one of those things was a haircut. I had been planning on going to a Barber Shop I have been to a couple of times, but saw a salon advertising $15 dollar hair cuts next to the Big 5 I was coming out of, so I thought I would give them a shot. It had a really strange bare feel on the inside. There were only two chairs, and one sink. and the mirrors were just plain house mirrors tacked onto the wall, but by the time I had seen all this, I was already in and would have felt bad for leaving. anyways, one of the stylists finished cutting her client's hair so I was up next. (I also hadn't really thought much of it then, but the only people there for a haircut during the entirety of my visit were all men.) But yeah, I got my hair cut for a good price and It turned out to be a decent haircut. Oh, and there was a soda machine just sitting there. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Firefly

My roommate Micah has been trying for a while now to get us all to watch a show called Firefly. And this last Friday we cooked us some tacos, got us some beers and watched the pilot episode. The best way I can describe it is a Steampunk Scifi show about our future after the earth is dead, and humans have moved to other planets. The main character is a captain of a spaceship called a firefly. It was on Fox, and got canceled after only one season, but it is pretty good. Joss Whedon, the director of The Avengers, was the show's creator. He has been doing a lot of cool stuff recently, and I would have like to see this show get some more attention to see what he would have done in following seasons. Though I have heard there is a movie to tie up the loose ends. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Homemade Chicken Dinner

I cooked chicken with veggies for myself for dinner! It was tasty! And there are still some leftovers!
I feel a little bad about the crudity of this here picture but I had to make some simple pictures to get all 6 of these posts done toady. Thanks for checking in though. I appreciate your diligence in sticking with me through these dry spells I have been having. Thanks again!

Comes: Survivor

Guess what started up this last Wednesday?! Survivor Caramoan Islands baby! Yeah! So, yeah, I have been sucked into Survivor because my roommate Aaron was watching it downstairs last season, and me, being the kind of guy willing to give most things a try once, decided I should watch a little of it to validate my pure hatred for reality TV, and Survivor specifically for spawning it all. But what met me that fateful day was something I did not expect. I was drawn in. It is fun to watch these people try to outsmart one another, and yet have to work together. Anyway, I can't really explain it well right now, but it's a lot of fun. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Nintendo SWAG

Nintendo, ahh. They are a magical company that has been making amazing games my whole life, and I am proud to say that I am a part of the Nintendo Club online. Through this club I can earn points completing surveys on games I own, and then use those points on free SWAG! I finally decided to use some of these "coins" as they are called to receive a Mario themed pencil case and an Animal Crossing card deck! They both arrived back on Tuesday and I was so excited, partially because they got here in like three days. Now, while I would like to say this is a faithful reenactment of how I came to poses these great gifts, this picture is far from it. I have been trying to come up with different scenarios for my pictures, so as to not keep cycling through scenes of my bedroom, to the living room, and then to my mail box, Etc. I hope you can understand. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: The Black Cauldron

Well, here I am. Posting a week behind. Sorry about the delays, but I have been distracted, and at other times maybe too ambitious with some of these pictures. I just finished all these for the past week today. So here they go. I watched possibly Disney's worst animated movie (not counting sequels) this last Monday night while trying to work on some projects. But the movie took all my attention. For some unexplainable reason I find myself in strange moods in which I actually want to watch this movie. It's bad in every way, but there is still some strange appeal. Possibly in the fact that they tried something different. Anyways, I don't want to go on to long with these words. So, onto the next post!

Comes: Shoe Shine Comics

Hey, I started a web-comic! I drew the 7th comic this Sunday and it was posted Monday. I will be writing comics based on a couple things, some of which would be video games, and events in life. It is cooler than I am making it sound right now. So go and visit it, and tell me what you think. here is the link, http://www.shoeshinecomics.com/ , I know you'll enjoy. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Snowboarding

I went snowboarding in Yosemite with some friends from work. Two of which had never been before, so Todd and I gave them some pointers and we went for it. Justin had gotten his board and boots from someone else and the boots were too big which made it hard for him to maneuver. Aaron had a little easier time with it but he still fell down a lot. We all had fun though. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Returning Taxes

I finally got around to doing my taxes after meaning to for the last week or so. Usually I end up getting a little bit of money back from the Federal taxes, but have to pay a little more to the state, but I got a some back from both this year. So I am pretty happy. I did them a little late at night and I also had to go out and buy some mail stamps. But I got them finished and sent out. Now just to wait. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Flat Tire

As previously stated in other posts here, I have been riding my bike to work now for the last couple of months, and riding during my lunch break too. But, when I went to the back of the shop to grab my bike this day, I came to find that my front tire had gone flat. Now, just a little background on me, I never really road a bike regularly before in my life. Sure, I had one as a kid, and was good enough at riding, but I only really road down our cul de sac and if anything did ever go wrong with my bike my Dad would fix it. So this is the first time I have had to repair a bike tire. Luckily one of my friends had a patch kit at home and picked it up at lunch so I could repair my bike. It was rather easy, and not too much of a set back. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: The Cleaner

Hey, is this it? I think it is. I am finally posting the picture for today, today. What a novel idea. It feels great to be caught up. While I was working on these last four pictures I suddenly got the urge to clean my bathroom. So I did. It is now spotless and I am caught up on posts. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: UP to draw

I have been working hard to catch up on my visual journal, and last night I made pretty good progress. I watched UP While I was working. UP is such a great movie, I love the art style and the story is great. I noticed this time how not only Muntz is a foreshadowing of what Mr. Fredrickson could become, but how Russel parallels Carl as well. It's great! I also watched part of Fantasia while I worked. Almost there!

Comes: Grease Monkey

So, I got a bike about a year ago now, and I started riding it to work regularly back in December. since then I have had to do a lot of maintenance due to the poor assembly job the Wal Mart employee did. It's actually been fun though, learning to work on my bike. Anyway this night I oiled up the chain because my bike was squeaking pretty bad and my coworker Justin, whom knows a lot more about bikes than I think I ever will, told me that was the thing to do. It worked. As of Monday night my bike has been squeak free! Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday! Ravens, 49ers, Beyonce lip syncing, power going out. . . I mostly just watch because it's a family event, (Just being honest here). Anyway, most of us were there, my sister Alicia went to her church's party, but everyone else was at my parents house for the Super bowl. We also played my Wii U afterwards. My parents hadn't played it yet, so it was fun to see their reactions. Oh, did I mention we also had homemade ice cream? No, I didn't. That's right, my Brother and his wife have an ice cream maker and brought some chocolate and some vanilla. It was a great day. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Wii U Play

Saturday night, a night of fun, a night of playing my Wii U! My brother has always been the one in our family to buy the newest Nintendo system first, but times have changed. Since the Wii had come out he has gotten married and had a child so now I have taken up the mantle, as I have done neither of those, and bought the Wii U. . . back in late December, but it's still new and exciting! We went over to my Brother's house to play my Wii U as he and his wife had not had an opportunity to play Nintendo Land yet. And I can confidently say that they loved it! Thanks for checking in!

Comes: BarBQing

Hey, at this point I have posted a picture for everyday in January! WOO HOO!

This picture is for the first of February in the year two thousand and thirteen, the year of our Lord. It was an overcast Friday night, and my coworkers and roommates had decided we should get together for a BarBQ and to finish the Batman cartoon from a previous post. So we did just that. Micah cooked some ranchero meat and made tacos. They were delicious! Todd BarBQed some chicken and it was quite good too. Over all a tasty night. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Beverage Shop

Thursday night my roommate Aaron and his cousin Noah were headed out to Bev Mo! for beverages of sorts. I decided to tag along for some adult beverages of my own. I ended up buying an Icelandic Pale Ale (though technically not an IPA) called Einstok. It's pretty good. At this point I am not well enough versed in beer to tell the subtle differences; I just know that I don't like Dark beers. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Puzzeling Situation

Back in January, I know it's already February and I am still backed up from NAMM,but I digest, My big Sister Alicia and I watched my little Sister Mackenzie so my father could take my Mother on a date. Got that? Anyways, we went over to their house to watch her so I think that made her more stubborn than usual. When we weren't have a power struggle with her, which was most of the night, she was really cute. We put together a puzzle and Mackenzie was having a hard time with it, but when she got matching pieces she got really excited. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Dinner and a Batman

My roommate Micah found a cartoon adaptation of the comic that the Dark Knight Rises film was based off of. So we watched part 1 on Tuesday. It's a story set 10 years after Bruce Wayne had retired and then felt the need to come back as Batman once again. It was written back in the 60s or 70s, something like that.
This picture depicts Batman beating the Mutant leader, and Micah and I eating our dinner. I really like the lighting on Batman a lot. I've been playing with lighting more and more. I think I've been getting better. Thanks for checking in!

Comes: Snoozin'

Well, I have a hard time waking up in the morning. While I would like to wake up at 7:00 and give myself ample time to Cook breakfast and get ready for my day, I tend to snooze until 7:30 or so and have to rush my mornings. This last Monday, the 28th, I had just gotten back from NAMM and was so tired that I slept in till past 8:00, the time I generally get into work. I got in a half hour late this day.

Comes: Anaheim Weekend

I went down to the 2013 NAMM Show this past weekend with a friend of mine. NAMM, for those of you wondering out there, is a music convention kind of like Bliz Con, or Comic Con. This was my friend Kris's first time at NAMM, and he is a banjo player in a local band. So he spent most of the show hopping booths looking at different guitars and banjos.

For the two nights we were down in Anaheim we hung out with our coworkers in Club 300. It's a bowling ally, Pool hall that plays music videos at the end of all the bowling lanes on huge screens. It has a really unique vibe. I beat everyone the second game of bowling with probably my highest score ever of 143. Then the next night I beat my father at pool.
The last day of the show I was finished seeing all I wanted to see, so I took a stroll down to Downtown Disney and bought myself a mystery pack of Disney pins. I got a couple cool ones but none I was really hoping for. At least I now have some more pins to trade with the cast members at Disneyland!
Well, that was my last weekend of January. Thanks for keeping up with me, and thanks for checking in!
